Welcome
Hello and thank you for your interest in the Tampa Bay Area Racing Association and visiting TBARA.net. If you are already familiar with the TBARA it is our goal that this website provide you with timely information about upcoming events, race results and news related to the TBARA. If you are a sprint car fan new to the TBARA and just found us while surfing we hope that you take some time and look around the site to become familiar with the outstanding sprint car racing that the TBARA offers at every race. I’d like to take a few moments and tell the visitors about the TBARA and why I think it is one of the greatest shows in sprint car racing and should not be missed.
Most sprint car fans are familiar with the legendary places around this great country where sprint car racing thrives. As fans travel about the country they know that if they happen to be in Central Pennsylvania, Williams Grove Speedway and other tracks in the Central PA circuit are a must see. Along with that, in the central part of the country lies Indiana and Iowa with such great tracks as IRP, Gas City and Knoxville. On traveling to the west coast another important stop is Perris Auto Speedway where the legacy of Ascot Speedway lives on with arguably the best 410 non-wing weekly series in the country.
But what about the Sunshine State? Rarely is Florida thought of as a hot bed of sprint car racing. But this is a misconception and could not be farther from the truth. Sprint car racing is alive and well in Florida and there are some great venues with fantastic shows to be seen.
While there are a few dirt tracks in Florida, pavement tracks abound. Florida is the home of some of the best pavement sprint car racing to be found anywhere. With both pavement winged and non-wing series running in the State there is plenty for a sprint car fan to see.
The TBARA is the premier pavement series in the State offering the largest car counts, busiest schedule and thrilling races with winged sprint cars. At a TBARA event the high point (fastest) drivers start deep in the pack instead of on the front row. This provides for a great show each and every event as drivers such as Dave Steele, Troy DeCaire, Dude Teate and Bo Hartley vie for a win from mid pack.
Now I know many of you reading this are dirt fans and are thinking you have no interest in pavement racing. If so you are making a serious mistake and missing out on some of the greatest sprint car racing available today. I personally came from a dirt non-wing environment. I too thought I would not enjoy this “wing and road tar stuff”. I quickly saw how wrong I was. The TBARA provides some of the most action pack sprint car racing in the country.
While staying true to the sprint car configuration, the cars of the TBARA are not dirt cars raced on pavement by merely slapping on some slicks. Rather, they are purpose built machines optimized for paved tracks only. This in combination with the wing provides for high speed multi groove racing. And multi groove it is. Watching Troy DeCaire use his patented three wide rim ride around the outside to move through the pack is every bit as exciting as a dirt car riding the cushion.
If you have not seen a TBARA show you owe it to yourself to do so. If you go to one you will return for more. I am sure of that. So please have a look around our site, review our schedule and feel free to ask questions on our comment page. We do our level best to get back on all legitimate queries in a timely manner.
Thanks again for your interest in the TBARA and TBARA.net.
See you at the sprint car races!
