Special SpeedWeeks trophy announced.

By Dave Shotsberger

TBARANewsTBARA Club President Dave Shotsberger today announced a special SpeedWeeks trophy is available to the driver with the most races after the four TBARA SpeedWeeks races.

“SpeedWeeks is always a special time of the year for both drivers and fans alike,” said Shotsberger. “This year, Doug Hoezel of GO 15™ has donated a beautiful trophy that will be awarded to the driver that has accumulated the most points over the four SpeedWeeks races at Citrus County Speedway, New Smyrna Speedway and also Desoto Speedway. We are very grateful to Mr. Hoezel and know that whatever driver wins the trophy will be very proud to put it in their trophy case.”

The TBARA kicks off SpeedWeeks at Citrus County Speedway on February 6, then it is off to New Smyrna Speedway on Fenruary 7 and 8, and then SpeedWeeks is wrapped up at Desoto Speedway on February 13.

GO 15™ and its “Metal Lubricity Technology™”, uses heat and friction to produce a thermal reaction with the metal surface being treated. About

The premier pavement sprint car series in the South, and some would say in the country, the Tampa Bay Area Racing Association (TBARA) has been racing from 1973 through 2009 and is preparing for its 40th season. Known as "the ground pounders," these purpose-built pavement sprint cars are powered by fire-breathing 360 motors and piloted by some of the best drivers in the country.

Current drivers include two-time USAC Silver Crown champ Dave Steele, two-time TBARA champ Troy DeCaire, and past race winners Bo Hartley, Dude Teate, Larry Brazil Jr. and the first female to win a sprint car feature with a major touring series in the southeast, Wendy Mathis.
