The spring time events for the TBARA are in full bloom with a return to Desoto Super Speedway on April 17th and then on to Columbia Motorsports Park in Lake City, FL on May 15th.

The seasons previous event, also at Desoto, was packed full of wheel to wheel action as is typical of the high banks on the Bradenton speed plant. Larry Brazil in the Pissot 20B withstood the pressure of several yellow flag restarts and the constant threat of Dude Teate in the Teate 0 to come home the winner.

May 15th marks the return of the TBARA to the high speed oval of Columbia Motorsports Park located just outside of Lake City, FL on Interstate 75. “We are very pleased to be back in the Gainesville/Lake City area with two TBARA events,” said TBARA President David Shotsberger. The power and thunder of the TBARA returns to CMP for a second time on August 14th.

About

The premier pavement sprint car series in the South, and some would say in the country, the Tampa Bay Area Racing Association (TBARA) has been racing from 1973 through 2009 and is preparing for its 40th season. Known as "the ground pounders," these purpose-built pavement sprint cars are powered by fire-breathing 360 motors and piloted by some of the best drivers in the country.

Current drivers include two-time USAC Silver Crown champ Dave Steele, two-time TBARA champ Troy DeCaire, and past race winners Bo Hartley, Dude Teate, Larry Brazil Jr. and the first female to win a sprint car feature with a major touring series in the southeast, Wendy Mathis.
